Dark Scar Camouflage is a revolutionary form of medical tattooing. Most traditional camouflage techniques are designed to add colour to "white" or pale scars. However, treating scars that are darker than the surrounding skin (Hyperpigmentation) requires a completely different, neutralizing approach.
Our Advanced Process:
-
Neutralisation: We use specialised pigments to counteract the excess melanin in the scar tissue, gradually shifting the dark tones toward your natural skin color.
-
Dermal Implantation: Pigments are precisely implanted into the dermal layer. During healing, a thin scab forms. As the body’s natural fluids interact with the pigment, the "darkness" is lifted and neutralised.
-
Natural Re-absorption: It is vital to let the healing scab fall off naturally. This ensures the neutralizing pigments remain trapped in the skin to provide a seamless, lightened blend.
Are You a Candidate for Dark Scar Camouflage?
To achieve the best results at our Essex clinic, we follow strict clinical guidelines regarding the "maturity" of the skin tissue:
-
Age of the Scar: Scars must be at least 12 to 15 months old. We cannot treat fresh scars, as the tissue is still active and changing.
-
Stable Colour: The area must be darker than the surrounding skin (hyperpigmented).
-
No Risk of Keloids: This treatment is not suitable for those prone to keloid scarring, as the needling process could trigger further overgrowth of tissue.
-
Surgical Scars: Including C-sections, tummy tucks, and facelifts.
