Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Skin Pigmentation

There are lots of types of skin pigmentation, birthmarks through to prolonged exposure to the sun. Liver spots, age spots, freckles that occur after sun exposure, can be treated and reduced via IPL.

Skin pigmentation comes in many forms of colour and are mostly affected or produced by sun exposure. This treatment is able to remove the excessive and unwanted pigmentation, leaving behind natural skin colour and texture.

Most of the time you will see immediate results, sometimes as pigmentation and birthmarks can reoccur, it is advised that regular sessions spaced out by some weeks are booked. Care must also be taken when exposing your skin to the sun and a high SPF 30 sun cream is recommended.

Filtered IPL light is targeted onto the cells containing excessive melanin, the pigment that causes these spots and freckles. The IPL breaks down the excess melanin without affecting the surrounding skin. There will be an immediate affect on the area and some reddening. This may then appear for some days like a bruise and become scabby. Allow this to naturally peel off after a few days.

Our advanced technology machines are medical grade, Crystal Freeze registered devices and FDA cleared. We are Core of Knowledge and Safety Certified, as well as fully qualified to undertake these treatments.

Frequently asked questions

Is IPL / Laser safe?

Yes, provided you are treated by a fully qualified technician. Always check your technicians qualifications and that they are using a Medical Certified Machine.

Can anyone be treated?

You must be over the age of 18 and provided you meet our criteria and your medical history has been checked.

Does the treatment hurt?

It feels like being flicked with an elastic band, some parts of the body are a little more sensative than others. Our system has Crystal Freeze technology, to ensure little pain is felt.

What can i expect after the treatment?

Your skin may be red after the treatment and some of the follicles swollen, this will reduce in a few hours.

Is there anything i need to do before treatment?

You should protect the area you are having treated from sunlight, before and after your treatment. This will all be explained at your consultation in full as you will be required to have a patch test before the treatment. It is your responsibility to fully follow our pre care and aftercare. You will be asked at the consultation about your medical history and any medication you may be taking, as some medications can be a contraindication to this treatment.

Can i Sunbath / Sunbeds & Fake Tan?

You should avoid sunbathing, sunbeds and any kind of spray tanning or fake tan 30 days prior and 30 days after your treatment. This is to ensure you get the best possible treatment and this treatment is melanin sensitive, so we ask you to do this to avoid any hypo or hyper pigmentation. All of our advice MUST be followed exactly.

How many treatments will i need?

Only hair that is actively growing will be affected, hence why you would need roughly 6 sessions to ensure you treat the hair at the different hair cycle stages. These sessions will be 4 weeks apart. This is not a permanent solution for all, as you may need to come back in 6-12 months for top up sessions dependant on your hair type.

How long does the treatment take?

It can take from 10 mins to 1 hour and maybe longer. Each client is different and it depends on the size of the area being treated. More advice will be given at your consultation.
