Dermal Filler - Fillers, also known as dermal fillers, are used to replace lost volume. As we age, our cells produce less natural collagen and elastin and our skin becomes drier and less plump due to a reduction in the naturally occurring hyaluronic acid in our bodies. (HA is a sugar molecule that is present throughout the body and lubricates joints and acts as a moisturising cushion.)

Dermal fillers, which are high in HA, are injected under the skin through a fine needle, this adds volume, visibly smoothing lines and wrinkles and making the face fresher. Generally, fillers would be used in the cheek area or the lips to plump out the outline and restore volume.

Frequently asked questions

Are these injections painful?

A pre numb is used 10mins before the treatment, to help with any discomfort. The injection also contains Lidocaine (numbing) within the product to ease pain of injection. You may feel slight discomfort, the needles that we use are very fine, so do help. However, each client is different and we offer a local anesthetic cream. Just a slight pricking and scratching sensation, but fillers in the lip area especially can feel a little tender.

How long do they last?

Every client is different, some clients get an immediate result and others may take two or three sessions. The same with how log they will last, it is really down to each client. Usually it is roughly 6-9 months and sometimes as long as 8-9 months. It depends as some are more resistant than others. Fillers do take time to build up, you need to be patient and understand that you may need a few session to maintain your desired look and to build up a base. As you build up the base, your maintenance will not be as often.

How safe is Dermal Filler? Are there any side effects?

Fillers now are mainly hyaluronic acid, which is dissolvable and metabolised by the body. The fillers used 10 or 20 years ago were silicone and that was a problem because they were permanent. The most common risks with these treatments, are bruising and swelling, this is usually mild and self resolving.

How long is recovery?

Please allow up to 14 days for swelling or brusing to go down. Filler takes 2 weeks to full set.

What is Filler?

Filler is made of Hyaluronic Acid. It works like a sponge and fills up with water upon injecting, filling out fine line, wrinkles and plumping lips. As we age, the volume of hyaluronic acid decreases and fine lines begin to appear, that eventually turn into wrinkles. Causing thinning, loss of volume and definition in the face.

Will there be swelling?

You may experience redness, bruising or swelling in the injected area. This should not last longer than 2 weeks. Light makeup can be applied 24 hours after treatment.

Can it be dissolved if i do not like it?

Filler can be dissolved most of the time by the use of Hyaluronidase, via small injetions to break down the product.

Can i fly after treatment?

We advise you wait at least 48 hours before flying.

Is there an age limit for treatment?

You must be over 18 years old, if you look younger please bring i.d with you as you will be asked for it.

How long does the treatment take?

Roughly 20 - 30 mins on average. Jawline and some other treatments will take longer.

How quickly will i see results?

You should start seeing your true results about a week after treatment, once any swelling or bruising fades.

Is there anything i should avoid after treatment?

You should avoid for 24hrs after treatment the following: - Spicy Food - Exercising - Drinking caffeine We also advise that you stay aware from extreme temperature changes, such as saunas and hot showers, to minimise the risk of bruising.
